Tim Burton. He’s house-hold name because of his wildly visionary films (like Edward Scissorhands
and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory) and drawings. Plus he’s a hero of ours here at Skullastic.
But have you heard of Stainboy?
Stainboy is an animated character Burton created for a 1997 illustrated book,
“The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy and Other Stories”. This book follows the misadventures
of a bizarre group of misfit boys and girls with names like Toxic Boy, Junk Girl, the Pin Cushion
Queen, and The Boy with Nails in his Eyes. Sounds like some new best friends to us!
In 2000, Burton was asked to create 26 animated episodes of the adventures
(and misadventures) of Stainboy for the internet. Only six were completed.
Twelve years later, these vids are still popular on YouTube. Here, within the
dark caverns of Skullastic, we love the quirky adventures of Stainboy and his misfit crew
so we thought we’d share some of them with you. Think nothing of it…
